Q How can I obtain a copy of a fire report, inspection report, information on environmental studies, or hazardous materials?

You must submit a written request, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope and fax number, to the Office of the Fire Marshal, 441 4th Street, NW, Suite 370, Washington, DC 20001.

Q What information is needed to fill a request for a fire report?

The date, approximate time, and location of the incident.

Q. How long does it take to receive a report?

Under the statute, District agencies are required to respond to a FOIA request within ten (10) business days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. This period does not begin until the request is actually received by the designated office. If more time is necessary, an extension will be made.

Q How can I obtain a copy of a 911 call or a Computer Aided Dispatch Report?

You must submit a written request to the Office of Information and Privacy, 1923 Vermont Avenue, NW, Suite 201S, Washington, DC, 20001.

Q Is there a fee for a report?

Yes, there is a $10 search fee for all requests. Payment can be made when the document is ready for release. Make check or money order payable to DC Treasurer. No cash accepted. Government agencies and media are exempt.
